By now, almost everyone has heard about blogging. The fact is that blogging is here to stay and if you don’t already have your own blog, now is the time to get started. Since blogging has been going on for quite some time, entering the “blogosphere” at this point in time provides you with a lot of interesting options.
For example, there are many places on the Internet where you can start and maintain a blog absolutely free. Two prime examples of free blogging are “Blogger” and “WordPress”. By going to either of these sites on the Internet you can get started blogging in under an hour and there is no cost involved. Both of the sites are easy to use and you can find all the help you should need to get started. These services are probably enough for the mast majority of bloggers.
If your hope is to try and start a blog in the hopes of making some money online, then you might need to consider a slightly different set up. In this instance it is probably best to spend about Ten Dollars a year ($10/yr) and buy a domain name. A domain name is the web address (URL) where your blog is located. Let’s say that you wanted to start a blog where you could sell the “examples” that you make. You might want to purchase the domain name “example[dot]com” so that people could easily remember and find your site when they are searching for examples. It is very possible that the domain name you would like to purchase is already owned by someone else. If that is the case, you just have to get a little more creative. You might have to get an extension other than ([dot]com). You might be able to buy the ([dot]net) or ([dot]org) or ([dot]info). If those aren’t available, you might see if “examplesite[dot]com” is available. With a little work and creativity you will be able to find the right domain name for you.
Once you have a domain name for your blogging business, you will need to get a web host. Depending on where you purchased your domain name, you can often get free web hosting if you don’t mind having an advertisement for the web host on your site. This is a good way to go, and you can always pay for web hosting once your blog starts making you some money. You should be able to get a web host for around Fifty Dollars a year ($50/yr).
A blog can provide you with a great deal of entertainment and allow you to make new friends and keep in touch with old ones. At the very least, you should get started blogging by checking out one of the free services that are available. You might discover that blogging is something you really enjoy doing. Go ahead, now is the time to get started blogging.
