Improving Your Golf Swing - Some Tips And Techniques To Perfecting Your Swing

If you have been playing golf, you must have known that the key to doing well in the sport is to master the swing. Constantly improving your golf swing is essential to playing a good game and enjoying your golf game as well.

Common problems with the swing can sometimes be frustrating. The golf slice and the hook are most often the most annoying and frustrating problems you may encounter, and improving your golf swing and mastering the basics of a good swing will truly help you eliminate these problems later on and help you master the game of golf.

If you are finding ways in improving your golf swing, you may want to try to look first at the very basics - your grip and your stance. Sometimes the problems you encounter in your swing are caused by incorrect grip and stance, so to be able to improve your swing, check if you are doing them correctly.

Improving your golf swing may mean learning the correct grip. If you are experiencing problems like the hook or the slice, you most probably have some problems with your grip. In maintaining a good grip, you have to remember to exert equal pressure from both of your hands. Both your hands should have control over the club. This is one tip too to help you deal with swing problems.

Your stance is also crucial if you want to have great shots all the time. Always remember the basics and the elements that will help you have that good swing. Remember to bend your knees a little to help you have a more stable stance and make sure your feet are positioned slightly outwards to help you gain balance when doing the swing. Take note also to execute your stance correctly every time you change clubs.

To be able to carry out a good swing, it is always important to remember the basics - from the grip, to your stance, and to remember also that you are correctly aligned with your target.

In improving your golf swing and mastering the game, you have to watch other players too. Watch good players and observe how they do their swing. This is also another way to learn some techniques in playing. Although other players may have their own different style of playing, you can at least learn from things that they are good at. Although you cannot just learn everything by watching alone, you must also have to take lessons and practice constantly to learn the proper way of doing it.

Indeed, lots of practice is the key to doing good in golf and in any sports. Even if how good your technique may be, if you do not carry it out in the field more often, it will not eventually take effect with just one try. If you have been playing for quite some time and you are frustrated with your game, you might just want to go back to the basics, perfecting your stance, your grip and your swing. Improving your golf swing will surely pay off in due time.

How Savvy Women Execs Are Quietly Making Money On The Golf Course

Ladies there are some of you reading this who once had a passing interest in golf. Or maybe you are a retired softball or tennis player. Golf offers the kind of challenge that will sharpen you right up… at every level. To say nothing of the advantages of being a skilled woman golfer in business.

Don’t get me wrong. You don’t have to be scoring in the 80s to take play the highly profitable game of customer golf. Nor do you need a single digit handicap to host a threesome of important male contacts on a fabulously planned golf event. All you need is a presence on the golf course that communicates a serious respect for the game and a great sense of humor.

It is known in horse riding circles that a horse will not respond to you if you are in the least bit doubtful at your ability to command its respect. Golf is exactly the same way.

You will not garner the respect that will attract golfing customers if you don’t radiate confidence in who you are as a golfer. Here are five things you can do right now to get you on your way to amazing business success on the golf course:

1. Make a Decision How good could you be? Decide to find out. Once you make a decision to explore how good you can be, you will find the inspiration to allow golf to have a place in your life. The excuse of not enough time is just that, an excuse. The advantages in opening up a part of yourself that wants to be expressed through golf are countless. Just make a decision to give it three to six months and then re-evaluate. You can’t lose and you have cash to be gained.

2. Find a couple of friends to keep you company. If you ask around, I’ll bet you anything there are a couple of women in your immediate circle of contacts who would love to explore golf too. Once you have two or three friends along for the ride, contact an area pro and ask about splitting up a series of lessons. You should be able to find someone to do this for around $100 for a series of 4 or 5 lessons.

3. Bring a golf club and a welcome mat into your daily life. Don’t squawk about not having time to practice. I practice daily but in ways that are not typical. My husband frequents the area driving range two to three times a week and gives concentrated attention to each segment of his game. I do lots and lots of small practice swings around the house. Have your local golf pro show you some swing exercises you can do at home. I even hung a sheet up in a wide doorway and weighted the bottom down with bricks. Once I started to sense how good I could be, I was hooked. There really is nothing quite like the feeling of a perfectly struck golf shot.

4. Get out and play. Find a friend and play nine holes as often as possible. It doesn’t take as much time and it will give you real golf experience. You have fun with your friends without shopping, eating and sitting in coffee shops.

4. Start Tracking Your Scores. Most of the women in business that I know are really competitive and resilient…the perfect temperament for golf. Once a woman starts to track her results, her naturally competitive nature will create a strong desire to experience personal bests. I used regular graph paper and tracked my 9 hole scores. Breaking a hundred was a real sticking point for me at one point until I started making 9 hole goals. 49 and 49 is 98 every time. Seeing the graph go lower and lower as the weeks went by was fun. I loved it.

5. Practice your putting. No one practices enough when it comes to putting and the irony is, more strokes are lost on the green than anywhere else. How frustrating it is to get on in two and leave the green with a five. Once you really understand the game, you are tracking your scores and you are seeing results from your practice, the next step is to ramp up your putting skills. Become the best putter you can be. Ask your pro for some practice exercises and go out to the practice green with a friend. Have a couple of contests. Golf is a naturally social game and great quality time is created between friends. Follow this up with lunch and a little shopping and you’re good to go!

You learn everything you need to know about a person during a round of golf and you will know exactly who is a perfect fit for your business as vendor or client. It is a fact that thousands of dollars of business deals are hammered out in and around the golf arena. There are so few women playing, 75% of all golfers are men, savvy women execs are quietly reeling in the big fish. My coaching challenge to you is: Can you afford NOT to give golf a try?

Shirts To Play Golf In And Be Comfortable

Golf shirts are a very important part of the game these days. The recent technology that has been developed and placed into today’s clothing was unimaginable not long ago. Today’s apparel can help protect you from the sun’s UV rays as these units have SPF already built into the garment. Other pieces also contain an application that is a mosquito or bug repellant that does not smell and will last for 30 washes.

Our staff has run thousands of tournaments for companies such as the NFL, Shell, PGA Tour, Exxon Mobile and American Express at the best golf courses in the United States such as TPC at Sawgrass, The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail and The Woodlands Country Club. Golf Polo Shirts
While your selection of a golf polo shirt may not seem as important as what golf equipment you use, it does play an important role in how free your movements are and how comfortable you are while golfing. Both of these things can impact how well you perform.

Company Polo Shirts
If your company runs their own golf tournament or a charity golf tournament, wearing company polos with the company name and the name of the event can give you unlimited marketing possibilities all year long. Long sleeve shirts make superb gifts for anyone, even you. This makes them great for personalizing or customizing should the need arise. Once you know the type of shirt you are wanting, you will find that you get the benefit of choosing the colors, the sizes, and the customization you desire.

Uniform Polo Shirts

This style offers more in the terms of personality, and you may find you get a bit of extra protection from the elements or harsh conditions as it is an easy piece to layer.

Golf Swing Problems That Are Commonly Encountered And How To Fix Them

Golf swing problems are often the most common problems in this sport. Even those that play professionally also are not spared from some golf swing problems. It can be a challenge indeed to hit the ball correctly in golf and probably one of the most common problem is not hitting the ball straight.

It may sound unlikely but indeed, golfers sometimes do this common mistake called the slice. When you hit the ball hard and you think you are hitting it as straight as you can, but the ball eventually curved to the right, you may be committing the dreaded golf slice. The slice is one of the common golf swing problems that happens when you struck the ball with the club and the clubface is open or in an outside to inside swing path which leads to the ball curving to the right or to the left, depending if you are right or left-handed. Because the trajectory of the slice looks like a banana, this common golf problem is often called a banana ball.

Another golf swing problems that is also as frustrating as the banana ball is the hook. The hook is another misplayed shot where the ball flies from right to left, if you are a right-handed player. For a right-hand player, the trajectory of the ball in a golf hook starts curving to the right but ends up curving severely to the left. If you are new to the sports, you will most likely experience golf swing problems like the slice and the hook, but with proper practice, you can however correct them.

It may be a relief to know that other professional golfers also commit some of these swing problems but you have to work on correcting them. Of course, there is no greater enjoyment than playing your favorite sports correctly. Because these problems are common, many experts have also dissected the causes of these common golf swing problems and many have offered solutions too.

The golf hook for example, is said to be brought about by an incorrect grip which can lead to the ball not being hit correctly causing the ball to spin in a counterclockwise direction and eventually leading to the hook. To be able to fix this problem, experts often advise you to look back and practice the basics of doing the proper grip. One technique is to weaken your grip pressure a little but not too loose as this can also cause other swing problems.

A banana ball or the golf slice is another frustrating problem that many have tried to find solutions in fixing this particular swing problem. Like the hook, the problem with the slice may lie in your grip. If you are trying hard to correct your golf hook and you end up overly adjusting your grip, you may end up with slice problems instead.

Indeed, one solution to golf swing problems is adjusting your grip but being too careful not correcting one problem and switching to another. Going back to the basics of the proper grip and proper swing position would be very helpful in correcting common golf swing problems like the hook and the slice.

Fixing A Golf Slice - Overcoming This Common Golf Swing Problem

If you have been playing golf and you sometimes experience your ball going crazy into a big curve and veering into the direction you don’t want it to be, you may be experiencing a golf slice. Indeed, a golf slice can be a disappointing and frustrating problem in the game of golf and fixing a golf slice should be one of your priorities if you want to improve your game and if you want to enjoy getting good scores.

Experts say it is not only the amateurs and the beginners who commit this frustrating slice. Even professionals do, but that fact should not be something that will make you forget about fixing a golf slice. To do better in your game and cure this problem, you have to go back to the basics.

A slice happens when you struck the ball with the clubface open or in an outside to inside swing path which sends the ball veering towards the right of the target. For left-handed players, a slice will send the ball veering towards the left of the target, following a trajectory that is similar to the curves of a banana, where it eventually got its other name - ‘banana ball’.

Indeed, this extreme path of the ball is frustrating and in order to address this problem, you may want to go back to the basics in improving your swing. Fixing a golf slice may involve correcting your stance, your grip, the speed of your swing or the stiffness of your shaft. Understanding the common reasons why you often have that banana ball is important to be able to overcome this problem.

One of the tips used by experts in correcting a golf slice may involve fixing your grip. Sometimes when you have a weak grip, this can lead to the club being open when it hits the ball, thus making the ball to spin and sending it to a slice. If weak grip is causing your slice, experts often advise to turn your grip a bit to the right, making a stronger grip but holding the club with just enough tightness to take control of it. Relaxing your wrists and forearms also helps a lot in perfecting your grip and avoiding that dreaded slice.

Other solutions to fixing a golf slice also include improving your stance, standing straighter with knees slightly bent for proper relaxation and control, and lining up the ball on the heel of the club to correct the outside-inside swing path. It may also involve increasing your swing speed by bringing your club farther back to fix your slice, but do not also go too far with your backswing. If your left arm is not folded when you swing into your follow-through, it may also cause the slice, thus you may also want to check your arms if you are constantly having a slice in your game.

Learning from other players can also help you find tips in straightening your slice. Aside from that, constant practice is very important in fixing a golf slice. Of course, no theories and solutions will take effect in correcting your swing problems if you do not practice them often and put them into test.

Golf Tip: How To Use Psychology To Improve

Many amateurs do not fully utilize a golf psychology tip to help them shoot lower scores. Professionals are much better at monitoring their bodies and emotions. Of course, they also have caddies, coaches and other parts of their entourage keeping an eye on them to make sure that they are using the correct golf psychology tip. The regular folk like us do not have this luxury however, there are some things that we can monitor and do to help us relax if we get tense on the golf course:

Golf Psychology Tip - Monitoring your breathing is a very effective way to calm yourself down. The best part is that you can do this at anytime. Whether we have realized it or not, all of us have started breathing faster on the first tee of a tournament. To give yourself a baseline, practice at home. Monitor your breathing at home when you are relaxed and notice how much tension in your body, how fast you are breathing and are you breathing from the top of your stomach or your lower stomach.

Golf Psychology Tip - Another thing that you can monitor is your walking pace. Again, this is a very effective way to calm yourself down and you can monitor your walking pace at anytime. Although most of us guys would rather go to an insurance seminar than to go to the mall, you might earn some bonus points with the spouse by going to the mall and walking. On your mall walk, you would be able to monitor what is a slow pace, what is a comfortable pace and what is a fast pace. In addition, try walking at different paces during the day and monitor how your body feels at the different rates.

Golf Psychology Tip - Focus on your pre-shot routine once you have a pre-shot routine ingrained then this is a good way to click into auto-pilot. It is critical that your pre-shot routine is repetitive and does not waver. A change could cause anxiety and mis-trust in your golf swing.

Golf Psychology Tip - Picturing a calm place such as a beach or a lake will also calm you down. This may sound a little corny to some but, it works. It is probably my favorite golf psychology tip. We visit my in-laws from time to time. They live in the middle of Kentucky horse country. It makes it easy to relax away from the usual city life. To give you a clearer picture, in this particular county you may only purchase land in five acre plots or more. While we are there, I walk everyday and there is a big barn that sits on tops of a hill in the distance. These walks are very relaxing. The Kentucky quarter happens to have a picture on the back of the coin that reminds me of that barn that I look at on my walk.

When I mark my ball with a Kentucky quarter, I am able to remember my relaxing walks and I can feel my body relax right there on the putting green. You need to find your place whether it is the beach for you, your back yard or a sunset. The point is it does not really matter as long as it relaxes you.

Pick the golf psychology tip that will work best for you or use them all. Being able to monitor your body tension, monitor your breathing or having a place to go to during your round could just be the golf psychology tip that you need to allow your best performance!

Sporting Holidays Abroad - Golf In Cyprus

Of all the places to play golf in Europe, Cyprus is one of the favourites among golfers.

The Mediterranean island has the advantage of being one of the few places in the world that offer golfing as a year round sport. In other areas of the world, tourism often slows during the colder winter months. Due to the location and year round mild climate of Cyprus, the island is becoming one of the best places in the world for year round golfing and other tourist activity.

Golf courses, clubs and resorts on Cyprus range in difficulty from novice to professional level. The Cyprus Golf Federation (CGF) is golf’s official ruling body on the island. Five of the major resorts on Cyprus offer first class 18 hole golf courses. They offer special training areas for beginners, some in the form of a golf academy. Aphrodite Hills Golf Club and Korineum Golf and Country Club both offer three-hole academy courses to accommodate beginner golfers.

Aphrodite Hills Resort

The Aphrodite Hills Golf Course is named after the area it overlooks: the birthplace of the Goddess Aphrodite. Located near Paphos, where it overlooks the Mediterranean, the Aphrodite Hills Golf Course was designed by Cabell Robinson and built in 2002. This 578 acre golf course encompasses the resort, offering great views of the hotel and village centre. A dramatic ravine between two of the course’s plateaus offers a unique golfing opportunity. Surrounding the golf course is a protected forest.

Korineum Golf and Country Club

The Korineum Golf and Country Club is a private club. It was the first 18 hole golf course built on the northern part of Cyprus. The course offers great views of the Mediterranean and the Five Finger Mountain Range. Located near Esentepe, the course consists of 18 holes, a driving range, Korineum Golf Academy and a shop where golfers may purchase or rent equipment. The Club House houses a fitness centre, spa, massage parlour, hairdresser and sauna, as well as executive meeting rooms, conference rooms, restaurants and bars.

Secret Valley Golf Course

Considered one of the most prestigious golf courses on Cyprus, the Secret Valley Golf Course is situated about 11 miles east of Paphos and offers an excellent golfing experience for novice to expert golfers. The Club House offers facilities such as a shop where golfers may buy or rent equipment, a bar, a restaurant and a locker room. The verandas of the resort’s primary restaurant overlook the golf course and provide amazing scenic opportunities. Guest villas and apartments were built to accommodate the many visiting golfers it receives each year.

Tsada Golf Course

At 500 meters above sea level, the Tsada Golf Course is an incredibly beautiful, scenic course. Completed in 1994, the Tsada Golf Course was the first full grassed 18-hole golf course built on Cyprus. The gently sloping fairways are lined with fruit trees and grape vines. Nearby Coral Bay offers golfers the opportunity to relax and enjoy one of Cyprus’ best and most popular beaches. As with most other golf clubs, Tsada offers academy training. What sets Tsada Golf Course’s training apart from others is the fact that training is provided by a PGA professional.

Vikla Golf and Country Club

Designed by Robin Houry and built in 1992, the Vikla Golf and Country Club is open to the public and one of the most relaxed golf clubs on the island. For around 40 Euros you can golf all day. Club rental, golf balls, tees and water are included in the price. The Club House offers a wide variety of activities for golfers and non-golfers alike. Non-golfers can enjoy the swimming pool and other amenities while their golf loving counterparts enjoy a day filled with golfing enjoyment.

There’s a good choice for those who are considering a golf holiday abroad in Cyprus.

Golf Tips For Your Corporate Outing

We get asked all of the time for quick golf tips. The question usually comes from someone who has to play in a corporate golf tournament or they are someone who does not play often and they are going on vacation and will have a chance to play a round at a prestigious golf course and are looking for quick golf tips. Here is a list of five free quick golf tips to enjoy your corporate event or vacation.

1. If you have any time before your event to practice, you do need to take advantage of this. Current golf instruction will say that you should spend twice as much time on your short game as you do your full swing. I know, I know, I know. How are you going to get the ball to the green? Without much time before the event, you will improve faster by spending time on getting the ball in the hole as opposed getting the ball just close to the green. If you do not get to play often, chances are that you hit many of your irons close to the same distance. Unless you have time for some golf instruction, this will not be fixed in a short period of time. Get the feel for and mechanics of chipping, pitching and putting.

2. When it comes time to play your round, make sure you loosen up before the round. By loosening up your muscles, you are allowing yourself to relax and prepare your body for the athletic movements you will be making during your round. Your time should also include some time on the practice putting green. You will want to become familiar with the speed of the greens.

3. Grip pressure and arm tension is something that all golfers should monitor during every single swing. Your shoulders and your forearms should not feel like they have any tension in them at all. To give you an example, if you take your grip and hold the club out in front of you with the shaft parallel to the ground. If your shoulders and forearms are relaxed enough then the golf club should drop to the ground. This is the feeling of how relaxed your shoulders and forearms should be during your golf swing.

4. Balance is an underestimated part of the golf swing by most amateurs. In your setup, you will need to check your balance from side to side (left to right) as well as from front to back. You can do this by simply swaying side to side until you feel balanced and do the same from front to back. This will allow you to find your perfect balance. Now the key is once this is found you may need to move closer to the ball or farther away from the ball to stay in balance.

5. Once you start playing your round of golf, leave your ego at home and make and aggressive swing at a conservative target. What does this mean? Do not always go flag hunting on every hole. With not playing very often you are not going to hit every shot where you are looking. Increase your chances of playing better by aiming at the largest part of the green or the part of the green you are most comfortable with trying to hit a golf shot.

Assuming you do not have much time until your event, use these five quick golf tips to have a successful day. To conclude the five quick golf tips, let me give you the best of all of the quick golf tips of them all. Make sure that you HAVE FUN! It is just a game.

Golf Grip: The Correct Golf Grip

To lower your golf scores it is important that you begin with the proper golf grip fundamentals. The grip is your only connection to your golf club and is considered a basic fundamental of golf. Inconsistent shots are often traced back to the golfer.s bad grip. The grip is the start to a good golf swing and to the start of you starting to lower your golf scores.

When you are ready, allow your arms to hang naturally. Now take your regular golf stance without a golf club. Since your do not have a club to grip, stand with your palms flat together. Notice how the palms of your hands are parallel. Now that you are in you proper set up with your palms being parallel to each another, this results in a good grip fundamental. If your hands are not parallel to each other, your hands with fight against each other trying to get back to impact. With your palms of your hands being parallel to each other, your hands will now work together as one unit.

Now, take your golf grip on your golf club. Straighten out your fingers while still holding the club in your hand and open your palms just wide enough to reveal if your palms are parallel. If your palms are parallel, then you have this grip fundamental conquered. If your palms are not parallel to each other, you need to work your hands around on your club until your palms are parallel. Now retake your golf grip. You need to realize that this new feeling should be your new grip.

The palm of your right hand as well as backside of your left hand will be facing your target if you choose to assume a neutral grip. Most players make the mistake of allowing their golf grip to become weak. This means the back of the left hand is pointing more at the target than at the sky. High-handicappers, ladies and juniors should be able to set-up and see three knuckles on their left hand. This would mean the back of the left hand is pointed a little more towards the sky. A higher handicap player typically needs to use a stronger grip to release the golf club. For a stronger grip, the back of your left hand would be tilted towards the sky with the palms still parallel.

Using the information in this article, you can improve your grip the very next time you have a golf practice session. See you on the practice tee.

Golf Tips - How to Practice Your Foward Swing

You already know that you are supposed to practice without a ball until the perfect motion is comfortable. When it comes to the full swing, the ball can make golfers do some really weird things. Just watch some of the other golfers at the range. Before you are ready to hit a ball, go slowly and perfectly through the drills until you feel that you own them. Then, add a ball and do these drills slowly and perfectly and send your energy to your target. Even hit some balls with your eyes closed, keeping the target clear in your mind as yon send your energy toward it. Then be certain to maintain your swing’s quality as you gradually add speed, but do not rush yourself. Add pace only when you can “pure it” at the current speed more often than not. Pure it means you hit the ball accurately and on the sweet spot of the club. You’ll know when you hit the sweet spot, because the club won’t vibrate in your hands.

People really mess themselves up when they add the ball or speed too soon. Impatience is your greatest adversary. You must have total control of the golf club if you want to play well. You will be far better able to control the club if you are consciously aware of the clubs position throughout the swing. So go slowly and feel exactly where that club is. When it comes time for a ball and a target to be introduced, you need to forget your mechanics and concentrate on the target. Hence, do not introduce the ball and target too soon, or you will set yourself up for frustration. The swing, the ball, and the target are just too many things to think of at the same time. You can make golf as hard as you want, but you don’t have to. It’s all in the manner in which you learn the game.

The full speed golf swing happens too fast to consciously control, therefore it is very difficult to work on your swing at full speed. While you practice your swing, first watch the club move and make sure you move it correctly, and then feel what the correct swing feels like. Get the mechanics right first, and then translate those mechanics to feel. Practice makes permanent. Only perfect practice makes perfect. So if you want to improve, practice, practice and more practice!

Golfing is a fun and frustrating game for me. I hope this article helped you. For more information and tips go to http://www.nowbestgolf.net Thanks for looking and good luck. Bill Bicknell
