Rachel Steven’s a Wreck After Missing Out on Strictly Final

As Christmas draws in, TV shows on this side of the year start to wrap up. We witnessed an incredible final on the X Factor, with Alexandra Burke being crowned the winner and the same can be said for Strictly Come Dancing.

The show this year has been full of controversy with phone votes going completely wrong and people leaving at early stages. But this was not going to put off the viewers as more than 13 million people tuned in to watch the final.

The favourite to win was former S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens but she narrowly lost out to Tom Chambers who stars in the hit TV Show Holby City. Tom who was miraculously saved in the semi finals by a BBC mess up, then goes on to win the show. For some people the result will leave them fuming and I am sure there will be a whole wrath of complaints to come.

Mean while Rachel Stevens stated that she had to leave the studio after missing out. Stevens, 30, who danced with Vincent Simone, said: “Everything was too much. I bawled - I was a blubbering wreck.

“My mum said, ‘You’re a winner to me, I can’t tell you how well you’ve done, you’ve inspired me.’ Alex (Bourne, her fiance) was the same. He took me away and gave me a hug.”

Rachel then went onto say that she had a feeling that Tom would win as he has a massive fan base and people love him. But Tom Chambers insists he is an entertainer and that is why he ultimately won the show. Tom said: “I’m not a dancer, I just love to dance.

“What I wanted to do was go out and make it entertainment because it’s a dance and entertainment show. You can end up taking it too seriously, it’s important to try to remember its entertainment. Tom Chambers is now well on his way to making a million with probably a ton of theatre acts and celebrity interviews and performances.

The strictly come Dancing show entertains millions of people each and every year and this year has done just that once again. Although we have had a ton of controversy, the celebrities have been great the acts have been superb and the dancing out of this world. We all look forward to the 2009 show and hopefully it will be just as entertaining.

Could the Soap Brookside be Returning?

We all remember Brookside and its amazing and controversial episodes, the show was first aired when channel 4 launched on the 2nd November 1982. It was conceived by Phil Redmond, who also devised Grange Hill (1978-2008) and Hollyoaks (1995-present).

Brookside shot to fame when it blended in with other soaps such as Eastenders and Coronation Street; the storylines were very gritty and realistic. The show made a lot of controversy by being one of the first to air a lesbian kiss scenes. It was very successful in its prime time slots.

But then things went wrong, the show heavily relied on the same story lines week after week and month after month, there was no real life issues being brought forward only explosions after explosions. The whole cast were at wits end because the show only seemed to show the more popular characters. From then on the show started losing viewership and Channel 4 kept on moving it’s from its time slots to make space available for sport matches and the newly launched Big Brother mode.

It was then announced that the show would only be airing on Saturdays, which then eventually got scrapped after viewers fell below the half a million mark.

But things are not all doom and gloom, the show has been rumoured to maybe try to re launch itself as the whole close has just been bought in auction for 735,000. The property comprises a cul-de-sac of 13 houses. Most of them have a garden and front porch.

Although the program did end in 2003, Mersey TV hung on to the close for around 2 years, before the company and houses that came along with it were bought for 40m by All3Media.

It is not yet known what the buyer will do with them or his ideas, but I can tell you now that if he decides to decorate the close and re launch the show then he could possibly have a goldmine on his hands. The show already has or had a good following base, so it’s not like you would be starting from scratch. Whatever happens I am certain the investor has made a great and rewarding purchase.

I think he has two great choices to earn his money back:

1) Decorate the houses and sell them on individually or rent them out.
2) Re launch Brookside and cash in on the money when the show starts to win awards.

Watching Funny TV Commercials Online

Laughter, they say, is the best medicine. If that is the case then the medicine is available online.

In this YouTube age, funny commercials are at anyone’s fingertips. It started with funny shows in TV uploaded online. When the make-your-own-video phenomenon came in, many people have come up with their own videos. Then people start uploading on the web funny commercials from their countries.

What so good about watching TV commercials online, is that users get familiarized with the culture, the cleverness and the humor of the people in different countries. Its uniqueness also stands out, or at least the idea is unique for people who live on the other side of the world.

Aside from entertaining online users, funny commercials in general are useful in everyday conversation. These can be aid to professional, motivational speakers. They will comment on funny commercials to their speaking engagements, to catch the viewers attention. Some would add it to break the ice. Most speakers would add it to be part of the content of their speeches.

Such commercials can also be used as illustration for Christian youth groups. An example of this is the biscuit commercial in the Philippines. The scenario: an old woman is asking for the only biscuit a guy has on a park bench. When the guy decided to give half of it, the old woman transformed to an angel who grants wishes. He asked for a sports car in return to the favor he granted. But since he only gave half of the biscuit, the angel rewarded him with jus the half of a sports car as well.

Yes, it is sarcastically funny. But it can serve as illustration on the matter of investing one’s money in tithes and offering (in the Christian concept).

Funny commercials that are watch online might also misled others since commercials are made for a specific audience. Group A has different cultural belief, or different sense of humor, when compared to Group B. So, if someone watched a commercial from a certain country, the message might be misunderstood or the humor might not be appreciated.

An example of this is a commercial from Egypt for a famous international food chain. It shows a guy who will do anything for her girlfriend, like going with her when she shops and pushing her car when it breaks down. But as they went to the food chain and had the food at their table (fries and burgers), they’d do anything to have everything (food) for themselves. The song plays along with the video and shows a confusion of love: love for each other or love for burger and fries?

Wanting the fries for himself, the guy grabs the girl’s arm when she was about to get fries. The girl kicks the guy’s legs for she wants fries, too. Yet, the guy wins, eating the meal all by himself. It’s funny to some viewers, but somehow, it would inject to other viewers that it’s okay to hurt a woman ; when he was just trying to convey that the fries taste so good that he’s even willing to lose the love of his life.

Celebrity Big Brother 2009 Will be Amazing

As one reality TV show finishes another starts straight behind it. TV has turned into a big reality setup. The shows in the UK consist of X Factor, Big Brother, I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, Britain’s Got Talent, Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing on Ice, Dragons Den and many many more.

But these shows do not fail to deliver to the public in the slightest, every year they get more and more viewers, so the programs themselves must up their game. Coming into new year we will see a new show of Celebrity Big Brother starting, although bosses are keeping the information under wraps of who will actually be in the house, there are a few names floating around. Let’s have a look and see if these people should really join the show.

Please note that all of these contestants are just rumours that have been floating around and may not be true or accurate in the slightest.

Mutya Buena
The former Sugababes singers is said to want to go into the Big Brother house to boost her solo career. We all know what going into the house can do to you, you will either be shown in a bad or a good light.

Whitney Houston
I do not believe that one of the best singers in the world would go into the Big Brother house, but then the world is full of surprises. Whitney Houston has not been doing very well in her music as of late and maybe this will revive her career.

Cliff Richard
This one seems to be on and off, we here reports that he has pulled out and then will be going back into the house. I do not feel that Sir Cliff Richard needs to go into the Big Brother house, he has been around for decades and we always look forward to his great Christmas song releases.

Ian Wright
The once great footballer is said to be joining the house along with his other fellow celebrities, I do not think that this will harm Ian Wright’s career at all, he will still be a football commentator and pundit unless he does something very stupid.

There are many more potential names such as Verne Troyer and MP Lembit Opik, but whatever happens I am sure that we will see a great show develop and it will attract a lot of viewers and controversy just as it does every year.

The BBC Get Complaints with Strictly Scoring

The show which caused a lot of controversy this year with its on show and off show antics has again caused a wave of complaints by its viewers by cancelling a dance off vote.

The show which is due to go into its end week has now put three contestants into the final rather than the initial two. The confusion arose when the show decided to let the public vote on all three contestants, although Holby City actor Tom Chambers could not have been saved from the dance off because of the low marks that he received from the judges.

Viewers have since been voicing their opinions and pushing to get themselves a refund. But the BBC has stated that no refund will be offered, rather it will be rolled over. Thousands of people took there time to vote, the least the BBC can do is refund them, especially now whilst we are in the midst of a financial credit crunch. If the show keeps going this way people will lose their trust and rather not give their hard earned and valuable money to the show.

The show which came off air 10 minutes earlier then planned, with no explanation as to why the eviction was cancelled, has been brewing up anger among loyal fans. The official Strictly Come Dancing message board has been deluged with angry posts from fans, many threatening to boycott the final.

All in all reality shows are being closely monitored a lot more now more than ever, viewers for Strictly Come Dancing were already fuming after the judges treatment of John Sergeant.

As for the BBC stating that the votes will be carried onto next weeks show, I also feel this is highly irrelevant, are we not meant to be voting on who is the best dance act that week? By passing the voting over to another week is just ridiculous and is just telling people that it is ok to vote on people you like rather than talent.

There were originally meant to be three acts in the final, but when veteran broadcaster Sergeant’s decided to quit it then moved down to two, now we are effectively back at three. This years Strictly Come Dancing in my opinion had the best dancers and celebrities, but it has been ruined by constant shenanigans that have been going on. I hope Strictly Come Dancing and the BBC pull themselves together as they could end up upsetting and losing a lot of viewers.

The Public Do Really Like Nice

For along time the public are said to have been more into the nasty acts rather than the nice, and the untalented rather than the talented. But 2008 looks like a good year in the eyes of the public and they are very much making the right decisions. Let’s have a brief look at some TV reality shows that will indicate that the public are choosing the correct people and choices.

X Factor
The most watched reality show has had its ups and downs, but from the winners we have seen on most occasions, the public are getting it totally right as they are choosing talent, rather than the sympathy vote. Winners include Shayne Ward and Leona Lewis and this year’s final is also set to see a great talent win.

I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here
This years I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here show was probably a great example to this article. The winner was Eastenders star Joe Swash. But that is not the only aspect. The final three people that were left in the camp were Martina Navratilova and George Takei who are very nice people indeed. The camp did have a lot of slimy and obnoxious characters, but the public chose the right people in the end.

Britain’s Got Talent
Another great show this year saw two great acts in the final. The first being Signature who were a Michael Jackson act and a smash on YouTube; they were a very nice a loyal act and had a great talent. The second was George Sampson, who was another great dancer. He did have a bit of the old sympathy vote in the beginning, but I do feel that overall his great dancing and talent won him the crown.

So it just goes to show that no matter how much the public get put down, they always make the right decision in the end. The only reality show I have a bit of a problem with is Big Brother as of late. The people that watch the show always give the sympathy vote, and I know it’s hard to vote on Big Brother as they are not doing much except sitting there. I would like to see a different type of personality win one year.

I am certain the great British public will look forward to 2009 and produce a new breed of talented and extravagant reality TV stars.

Television The Most Popular Form Of Entertainment

The beginning of the twenty-first century, saw Latin Americans watching around three to four hours of television daily for entertainment and information purposes. Television is still considered to be a relatively new technology which appeared some fifty years ago and was not accessible to the universal audience until ten to twenty years ago.

Before the introduction of the television era, people had different sources of entertainment which included parties, festivals, sports, concerts, theaters and cinema. However all these sources of entertainment were not accessible to all the people. For example, cinema did not reach the rural people.

Television turned the world into a global village bringing movies, games and news to the people. Television created new genres of entertainment, such as the vastly popular telenovelas.

However a vast majority of people did not consider television to be boon to society. Some believed that it lead to a breaking down of social and family values. According to others with the introduction of television people have no time for other as they are busy watching television. The television sets became available since the late 1930s. It became a great source of entertainment and news.

Television genres
Television genres include a wide variety of programmes that entertains, informs and educates the audience.

Drama is the most costly entertainment genres to produce. Other genres, like historical Western genres, may also have high production costs.

Popular entertainment genres include action-oriented shows such as police, crime, detective dramas, horror or thriller shows.

The drama genre includes other genres like medical dramas and day-time soap operas.

Programmes based on science fiction can be included under the category of either drama or action, depending on whether they lay emphasis on philosophical questions or high adventure.

Comedy is a popular genre which includes situation comedy (sitcom) and animated shows for the adult demographic such as South Park.

Game shows, talk shows, variety shows and reality TV are less costly form of entertainment. The people participating in the various game shows have to answer questions and solve puzzles in order to win the prize.

Talk shows showcases the interview of various celebrities and public figures.
Variety shows feature a variety of musical performers and entertainers like comedians and magicians introduced by a host.

Some leading talk shows also often feature performances by bands, singers, comedians and other performers in between the interview section. Reality TV features ordinary people not necessarily actors who are going through unusual challenges or experiences, ranging from arrest by police officers (COPS) to weight loss (The Biggest Loser).

A variant version of reality shows depicts celebrities doing mundane activities such as going about their everyday life (The Osbournes) or doing manual labour (Simple Life).

Introducing The Simpsons Family

Homer Simpson: Homer is the father in the Simpsons family as well as the only person that regularly brings income into the house. He is an idiot, but he is also quite hilarious because of that simple fact. He is worked at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant ever since the start of the show and in the process he has probably single-handedly given the anti-nuclear movement more material than it ever really needed to have. The irony of his job at the Nuclear Plant is that it is one of the highest educational requirements of any job that a person can do and yet Mr. Simpson barely finished high school and is a complete moron at the job that he does. America does love him however, because despite his lack of intelligence he is a sincere human being.

Marge Simpson: Marge is the mother of the family as well as the one person that has the ability to maintain sanity amongst the entire population inside the household. She primarily functions as a housewife although every now and then she does go out and work to bring some money into the household. She is intelligent and very good at all of the housekeeping activities, although most of her attention rests in breaking up fights between other members of the family. Her voice is a sober and intelligent one throughout the series and for that reason she acts as a comic foil to her husband Homer. They have been married ever since the end of high school.

Bart Simpson: Bart is the firstborn in the Simpson household and ever since birth has lived to make his fathers life miserable. Bart is a troublemaker in school, a poor student and the type of person that can aggravate anyone. In spite of that however, he is a video games nerd and still a person subject to bullying on a number of occasions by a number of different people. While he does annoy both his father and his sister Lisa, Bart has been known to display a deep affection for both of them on assorted occasions when he has done something nice for them.

Lisa Simpson: Lisa is the future of the Simpson family. Unlike her brother Bart, she excels in school and always brings home straight As almost no matter what the subject happens to be. She is consistently expanding her knowledge and while she does get picked on every now and then, somehow she is able to avoid it more so than her brother. Despite getting annoyed at him frequently, Lisa does care for her brother a lot and helps him whenever she can.

Maggie Simpson: Maggie is the baby of the family and still has the pacifier to prove it. Not much is known about her except for the fact that she is always in the right place and the right time to create comedic gold.

Internet TV - Watch Television Online

If internet or World Wide Web was described as a revolutionary technology when it was commercially introduced a decade and a half back, in the past decade or so, it had undergone tremendous transformation of sorts, morphing seamlessly from a unidirectional info pathway to a more interactive and dynamic full fledged communication and entertainment medium with wide reach. Now, people use the internet not just for checking emails or posting some info in personal websites, but also as an academic medium without limitations, to communicate through voice as well as text, upload and share personal videos and other multimedia files, and share the information they know/want way beyond the physical boundaries of nationality and language, to name a few. Why speculating? Now it is even possible to use one personal computer as a substitute for the television to watch various channels/programs seamlessly.

Yes, this feature is called Internet TV or iTV. Internet TV lets viewers watch their favorite programs through direct streaming via internet broadband. What users need to do in order to access internet TV is just to subscribe for the live feed. Transmitted over the internet using multicast protocols, the streaming is often inexpensive that most providers offer it to the netizens for free of cost, like the over-the-air broadcasting of TV channels to viewer homes a couple of decades back. Another plus with internet TV is that it could reach out to a larger section of audience as the limitations of previous television distribution models followed worldwide such as closed hardware, closed software, closed network - does not apply for live streaming over the internet.

Another technology that was found to be far more reliable than cable television, both in terms of transmission quality and its all weather coverage, is the satellite TV or Direct-to-Home telecast. Unlike other modes of transmission that uses cables - at some point - to transmit signals to user homes, satellite TV, as the term indicates, rely on direct satellite signals, which are then captured using a dish antenna at user home. The cost incurred on the customer is for the installation of the dish antenna, plus the fixed fee for the channels they wish to view over a month. In other words, satellite TV lets one view the channels he wants to view, and pay only for those channels. Nothing more, nothing less!

To sum it up, internet TV and satellite TV has turned the television viewing scenario in the world, on its head. These technologies allowed a larger section of people access to television programs, cut across continents and nationalities, made it far more affordable to the masses, offered more freedom in terms of program selection and manipulation, and made the transmission weather independent, especially in the case of satellite television. Newer and superior technologies may evolve in the future for sure. But, as of now, these two are the most reliable, cheapest, and robust TV transmission technologies available to mankind. May be it is time you also start giving serious thought along these lines.

So, are you ready to watch satellite TV on PC? Turn your computer into a Satellite TV and watch thousands of Internet TV channels now.
