Blokus Trigon-A Game of Strategy For the Entire Family

Who doesn’t enjoy playing a creative, challenging, competitive board game from time to time? Blokus Trigon is exactly that. What is Blokus Trigon? Well, to put it simply, Blokus Trigon has taken the old Blokus board game and added a super-challenging twist!

This newest member of the Blokus family uses a hexagonal board instead of a square board, with pieces that are triangular rather than square. . .this variation brings an excitedly new experience to the game! This version of Blokus is a little more complex than the old Blokus.

Why play the game of Blokus Trigon? For starters consider that Blokus Trigon is an educational game that encourages creative thinking. It’s so much fun, you don’t even realize you’re developing spacial perception! So you can get your brain in high gear. And because the bright colors and simple rules easily keep younger children interested, it makes an ideal family game for ages five and up. That way their brains will be in high gear as well. Older kids and adults will focus more on strategy and blocking their opponents. Younger players will improve their strategy as their understanding of the game process evolves.

How is the game played? If you’re familiar with any of the Blokus games, you will be familiar with the basic principle of Blokus Trigon. Each person has 22 pieces of one color. The objective is simply to place as many of your pieces on the board as you can before the game ends. Each new piece that is placed on the board must touch another piece of the same color, but it cannot touch along a side. Pieces are allowed to touch only at the corners. Players take turns placing their pieces.

You need to be constantly thinking strategically and anticipate your next move to extend your own territory! And at the same time, you need to be thinking ahead about how you will be blocking your opponents. Each playing piece is a different shape, so each move can be decisive.

Winner of numerous awards, including a Mensa award for promoting healthy brain activity, Dr. Toy Best Children’s Product Award, The Most Celebrated Toy of the Century Award, Teachers Choice Award, Parents Choice Gold Award, Top 10 Children’s Choice Award, and many others, Blokus Trigon is definitely not your average board game! I recommend Blokus Trigon for family game night. The entire family will be thrilled!

Composition of the game: The game of Blokus Trigon is made up of a hexagonal game board with 486 triangular squares, 88 pieces (22 pieces in each of the four colors, each of the 22 pieces has a different shape, instruction guide, and storage tray.

Blokus Trigon is intended for 2, 3, or 4 players, ages 5 to adult.

Bakugan for Parents and Grandparents

First of all, you’re probably asking yourself, what is Bakugan? If you don’t know it already you’ll soon find out that Bakugan is the latest craze in children’s toys straight from Japan. It seems very similar to me in many ways to many of those other anime based games such as Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Yo, or Digimon.

Each toy comes with two parts. The actual Bakugan toys are essentially small plastic, yet magnetic, marbles, that can morph into various action figures when rolled onto the metal game cards. Every Bakugan figure also comes with a metallic card that has a point value imprinted on it that are used to count scores.

I didn’t even know the game existed until my niece introduced me to it one day. I watched her and a few friends excitedly play it for what seemed like days - gibbering and jabbering “bakugan-speak” one hundred miles a minute as they played.

After the other kids left I asked her what they were doing and she did explain it to me but I don’t think that I could hear as fast as she was speaking and that I may have missed something. I do think I got the main details of the game however so I will try to explain what I now know about Bakugan to those other parents, grandparents and other misinformed adults needing to buy Bakugan supplies for the kids in their families this holiday season.

First of all, how do you play Bakugan?

It’s important to have at least a basic knowledge of the game - you never know, you may be asked to play one day if your child has no one else to play with or you may need to break up a brawl if the kids get out of control during play. Even better, you will also get all sorts of cool points for knowing how to play - a definite plus!

To start the game, two to four players can play at the same time and each player must start out with at least 3 Bakugan figures and 3 cards. Play begins with the Brawlers closed into the marble shape - also called Sphere Mode. This is one game where the youngest player actually starts things off.

Whenever the Brawlers are rolled onto the metal Bakugan cards it will pop open into Battle Mode (where you get the see the actual action figure) if it hits the game card in just the right spot. If the Bakugan does not open up, then that player then loses a turn.

Whenever the Battle Brawlers are in battle mode you will also see it’s G-Power which are used to count scores throughout the game. If an opponents battle brawler lands on the same card that your battle brawler is already sitting on then they will go into battle. The battle brawler with the higher G-Power rating wins the battle. At the end of the round, the child with the highest total of points wins the game.

Strangely enough, though extremely popular, the game of Bakugan also has an actual hidden educational value as well - because each of the players have to add or subtract the values of each figure and card throughout the entire game as play continues.

Here Are A Few Bakugan Tips for Parents

Keep in mind that these are relatively fragile, tiny toy items that require the users to be very careful because of all the small moving parts. Marble shaped, they are too large to fit in the nose or ear of a child however they could also be easily swallowed by your pets which could lead to an emergency trip to your veterinarian so please keep this in mind and keep the toys stored appropriately when not in use.

A few buying tips for parents are that you can purchase Bakugan in many different quantities ranging from a single marble and card to a set of several marbles with cards. There are literally hundreds of different toy figures on the market right now so there are many of them to choose from in all sorts of colors, types and price ranges.

Not only is this the hottest toy item in the toy world at this time but your child will be incredibly happy to get them. So, if you want to be the best parent, grandparent or friend on the planet, you should consider getting a few Bakugan for the child in your life right now.

Sonic The Hedgehog: A Look Into The Development Of Sonic

Have you ever wondered how Sonic the Hedgehog came into existence? Before Sonic there was Mario from Nintendo, Mario was and still is a huge game seller for the company. When you think of Nintendo you automatically think of Mario. Sega Games wanted the same concept, they wanted a mascot who could represent the company as well as become a best selling video game.

Many people may not remember but Sega used to have a character called Alex Kidd as the mascot but unlike Mario the popularity just wasn’t good. The company tried various designs that were turned in by the Sega Development Department. Some of the different types of drawings were of a character called Mighty the Armadillo, a drawing of a dog and a rabbit. But none of these ideas was going to capitalize on the idea that Sega had.

Then a team from Sega that consisted of Naoto Oshima, Hirokazu Yasuhara and game programmer Yuji Naka was put together to come up with the next big Sega Icon. In the early 1990’s they came up with a concept of a character that had some human qualities and some non-human qualities.

This character was a hedgehog. One of the special powers of this hedgehog was that he could run extremely fast like super sonic speed. Not only could Sonic run like the wind but he could also curl up into a ball to fight off his enemies, just like the hedgehogs in the wild do.

In the beginning the new character was going by the name Mr. Needlemouse. Then the blue color was added, as his skin color was blue to match the logo of the Sega Company. More people got involved in creating this character and soon Sonic the Hedgehog was born. Games were being developed but the company had to get the word out about the new face of Sega. During the Wonder 3 tour that was sponsored by Sega, the employees handed out brochures and advertisements of the game to generate some interest.

Sonic first appeared in the early 90’s in the game Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Mega Drive and Genesis game consoles. During this time Sonic started to become popular not only as a game but as a character or mascot as well. The Sega Company had hit the ground running. But the more Sonic became popular; Nintendo started producing more Mario Games, which are always popular.

Sega held it’s own with follow up games to the original Sonic the Hedgehog and these games were just as popular. But soon Sega started to lose ground with some disappointing products such as Dreamcast. One of the last appearances Sonic made was in 2005 called Sonic Jump. Fans started to lose hope. But in 2007 a new Series called Sonic and the Secret Ring came out and in December 2008, a new game called Sonic Unleashed will be sold for Xbox360 and Playstation3 gaming consoles. In the winter of 2009, a new Sonic game called Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection will be out in stores. Looks like Sonic is making a comeback.

Sonic The Hedgehog: The Supreme Video Game Icon

What would make Sonic the Hedgehog a Supreme Video Game Icon? Many gamers have said that Sonic’s powers make him a supreme icon. Sonic has obviously super sonic speed, which is pretty cool. He has the ability to curl up into a ball to attack his offenders. This may sound like a so-so power to have but with the speed and accuracy that Sonic has the power is actually one of the best powers he possesses.

Another power that makes him more supreme than his “rival” Mario is that in his games, when he encounters a Golden Ring you get to use it as a lifeline. When Mario encounters trouble there is nothing to save him. In the game, if you collect 100 rings, the game will give you an extra life. In each of the game series, Sonic and Friends must collect all 7 of the Chaos Emeralds; by collecting these gems throughout the game you will defeat the bad Doctor Robotnik. Mario games don’t have endings nearly as well put together as this.

In the games there is the Master Emerald. This gem will control what the other Chaos Emeralds do. It is like the ultimate emerald. The Video Icon is only as good as the game they play in. Would Sonic be as cool if he were just an icon? No, he is made the supreme video icon because of the adventures and powers he possesses.

In the Sonic Games he encounters Special Game Stages or Special Zones. Together with his friends he ascends to the next level with your help. You always look forward to something new in the game series; it is not always the same old thing. That is why kids love the game so much. The powers that Sonic possesses are super cool; he just doesn’t shoot guns or jumps real high or even fly. Sonic becomes like a super hedgehog with the powers he has. The best quality of Sonic is that there is no other video game character that can do what Sonic does.

One of the best features of Sonic that people always forget is that Sonic is a Hedgehog and he has quills that are deadly. That’s what makes his curl and roll so effective. All of these things make Sonic a Supreme Video Icon. Sonic has some great adventures in this Series of Games. Each one is different from the next one. They have different goals and different features that help Sonic get through each game.

For those Sonic fans that may not know the premise behind the new Sonic Unleashed game, the basic story is that the Chaos Emeralds have lost some power and while trying to restart their powers, Sonic turns into a werewolf style hedgehog at night. The goal of the game is to restart the Chaos Emeralds and get Sonic back to normal. The game will be released in December 2008. This is the season’s much anticipated game.

Dungeons And Dragons Campaign Settings

The Dungeons and Dragons universe is a wonderfully expansive opportunity for players to enter a world full of fantasy, mystery, magic, and excitement that they simply cannot receive in their everyday, mundane lives. Players will take on the persona of another character with a special set of skills and they will join a team comprised of other similar characters with skills much like and different than theirs. These players then enter a highly specialized, crafted world that is rich in detail, in which they attempt to complete a number of tasks which are set before them.

These tasks are generally called campaigns. The Dungeon Master is in charge of these campaigns, giving the players the settings that they find themselves in as well as specific events which happen during these campaigns. The Dungeon Master will set the goals for the group during each leg of their campaign, determining in each sitting how far the group will make it on their way. This can be an incredibly taxing job, for these individual worlds are fraught with detail and keeping all of the elements of them straight can be quite a task.

This is why the Dungeon Master will use a guidebook to help them with elements that get somewhat convoluted. When it comes to the campaigns themselves, however, many different options are present. A Dungeon Master can either entirely make up a campaign, giving players a completely original design that has never before been seen. This can be an incredibly rewarding experience, although it is one that requires a great deal of thought, planning and dedication. For players without the ability to do this, though, there are a number of pre-established campaigns that a Dungeon Master can follow to give the group a great outlet.

These pre-established campaigns can come either directly from the manufacturers of Dungeons and Dragons, or it can be written and produced by an outside company. Many of these campaigns, from both sources, have grown incredibly popular with dedicated players of Dungeons and Dragons. Some of them, such as Greyhawk, have been officially adopted into the Dungeons and Dragons canon. The third edition of the game is written as if players are playing with the Greyhawk campaign, although this format is no longer being actively published. Other campaigns, such as Dragonlance, were the first fictional worlds to be intentionally produced as a supplement to a role-playing game.

Forgotten Realms is perhaps the most famous Dungeons and Dragons campaign. First conceived by Ed Greenwood and described in detail in Dragon Magazine, Forgotten Realms was laid out in extreme detail for any players interested in finding a new outlet for their gaming adventures. This world has since become immensely popular, even having a number of novels set within its bounds. This campaign was the one that proved to the world that a well-planned campaign can support more than just one set of gamers, as the detail found in them can be rich enough to support many forms of media.

Weapons And Equipment In Gaming

A world such as one of the many found in the Dungeons and Dragons game offers a great number of different possibilities. Players can construct a character for themselves to play which can fulfill any number of different requirements, such as the type of fighter that they are, the race they belong to, as well as a good or evil alignment. As a result of having so many possibilities when it comes to finding a playable character, each of these characters has the potential to have a number of different skills and tools available to them. Each character will often be able to carry and use a set number of weapons and equipment. The amount of weapons and pieces of equipment available, however, can drastically range.

This is why having a guidebook available which can detail all of the different weapons and pieces of equipment can be incredibly helpful. The Dungeons and Dragons Arms and Equipment Guide, currently available in three different editions, can help any players or Dungeon Masters keep track of all of these elements. Weapons are listed in the guide along with all of their properties. Special skills or magic that the weapon may have will be included, along with the classifications of the type of character and the amount of strength that character needs to carry the weapon. Equipment works much like this as well. Anything from special potions to armor can be carried by players and characters of different magnitudes and knowing what can accurately belong to who can be a lot to keep track of. This is where the Arms and Equipment Guide will aid any player.

The most current edition of the guidebook has a number of different sections which helps to differentiate between the options available to players. The large beginning section details all of the different forms of weapons and armor which is traditionally available to players in the Dungeons and Dragons universe, as well as listing a entirely new set of weapons which have never been made available to players before. This section details not only properties of the weapons, but the historical significance of them all. The guide details materials that the weapons were made out of and even how they were best used in certain cases.

The Arms and Equipment Guide moves on to describe different forms of adventuring gear, such as clothing, candles, and the economic systems available in different areas of the world, explaining to the players how the systems of bartering and commerce work in each different region. A space is dedicated to the different vehicles available to players, from ships to mounted animals, as well as instructions on how to properly control each of these options.

“Hirelings and Creatures” is another section of the book, explaining all of the different services you can rent or buy from animals and other magical creatures in the confines of the world. The book finishes with all of the different special magical items which are available to players, explaining all of their properties and how they can best aid any player with a set magical skill.

Guidebooks For The Dungeon Master

The expansive world that a Dungeons and Dragons game will create can delight and wonder in its players. The game gives a very detailed experience for most of the little aspects in the game and all of the areas which the game does not cover can be invented and enriched by the person acting as the Dungeon Master. Creating the environment of Dungeons and Dragons is one of the most rewarding parts of playing the game. The only problem can come in the form of all the details which the game does present. Not only do the monsters that players fight have incredibly detailed elements, but the environment itself can act and react to events which happen in it. This is why the creators of the game provide a number of different guidebooks to help not only the Dungeon Master, but the players themselves.

The Dungeon Master Guide could perhaps be one of the most valuable guide books which Dungeons and Dragons has produced. It is aimed toward helping the Dungeon Master keep the game running smoothly, giving tips about how to administer the game, especially during some of the more critical moments. While all three major forms of the guides are collectively considered to be the rules to Dungeons and Dragons, the Dungeon Master Guide could be looked at as the overarching guide designed to be the biggest aid to the Dungeon Master, who acts as the administrator over the game. Without this guide, the game could easily get compromised, the rules could get confused, and players could either be given unfair advantages or disadvantages.

Going hand-in-hand with the Dungeon Master Guide, however, is the Monster Manual. This is the other book which only the Dungeon Master of the game is permitted to look at during the course of the game, as it lists all the different monsters which could potentially be encountered during a normal game of Dungeons and Dragons. The creatures in this book are derived from folklore, mythology, and some were even specially created for the game.

Each entry in the Monster manual lists all of the attributes of the monster that are important to the game, such as special skills, hit points, and attacking power. For enrichment, however, the manual will also provide information on the creature’s typical habits, allowing one to understand more about the world in which they are playing. The drawings of the monsters in the book will give both players and the Dungeon Master a better look at exactly what they are facing off against, making the game just a little more vivid in the imagination.

These guidebooks will often prove to be a valuable asset to anyone moderating a game of Dungeons and Dragons. The world itself can be a lot for anyone to handle all in their memory and having two handy guides will be important for anyone who wants to run a smooth, fair game. Therefore, even though they are considered to be an official part of the game and the rules, these two guides can be the best friends of any serious Dungeon Master.

Great Gambling Board Games Of The Past

In the past history, people have played many board games for many reasons, some which includes camaraderie, competition and skill building, as well as family bonding. However, some games were played for gambling. These games allowed winners to not only win the bragging rights that they beat their friends and other great players, but also allowed then to walk away from the board richer than when they came to it. Some of these games were changed to include drinking, still a gambling game they were converted into games that included taking alcoholic beverages. These games were designed with adult entertainment in mind and they are great party favorites of the past.

One such game is an old Scottish drinking game, which was converted from a gambling game called Tablero and Toblaro. In the Tablero version the game is played with coins, when converted to Toblaro it is then a game played with shot glasses. The game has two dice, a checkerboard with 7 by 7 squares and 15 coins anted by each of the players. The game was a popular game by the Spanish lower class citizens, and was eventually banned by the Pope.

The game is played starting with each of the players rolling the dice, with high tying players re-rolling the die. The low roller must place 5 coins on either row 1 or row 7, with one being in each of the squares; the high roller places two coins on the same row. The lowest roller plays the game first to start the game.

After throwing the dice, the players will lose their coins should the player throw a 7, 11, or 12. If another person throws any other number he will move 2 of the coins, one per dice. The player cannot move the same pieces more than once in a turn. Each turn moves in the same column it is in, not diagonally or across. The player is limited to moving the coin toward him or away from him, by the number of rows that are indicated on the die. Should the player not be able to use both dice, he loses his turn to his opponent, as both dice must be used.

After moving the coins associated with the two dice, if there are two or more coins lined up in a row, other than 1 and 7, then the player may take them off the board. In this case the opponent may put his coins in the spaces and take his turn, however if the opponent does not have enough money the game is over. When they get the dice they must throw at least one time.

If there is a row of 7 coins together, the player who is moving can pronounce that it is a “run” and then the opponent must stake two more coins and throw the dice, if he gets a 7,11, or 12 he will then lose all 9 coins. Otherwise the moving player will get those two coins and keep running calling the run and rolling the dice again until he gives up the coins, or the opponent can no longer stake the money. The player with the most money at the end of the game is the winner.

In order to change the game from Tablero to Toblaro, the coins are replace with shot glasses filled with alcoholic beverages, when the money (or the glasses) are captured, the winner gets to drink it and the loser must refill the contents with his alcohol.

These games are great games for adults to play, and have introduced other games that have almost the same concepts such as bingo where the person with the right amount of chips on the numbers wins the pot and Yahtzee for money where the die tells the person what he can fill in on his card. All of these gambling games are an exciting way to enjoy board games for adults.
