Traffic Analysis - Do It Yourself

How many companies are there out there that will offer to supply your website traffic analysis to you, it will cost you a few dollars though. I almost took up one of their offers, almost, because I found out how you can do it for free!

Once you do a search on your favorite search engine of sites that will do some free traffic analysis for you, you will quickly see how many companies there are out there. To get rid of a lot of non relevant results from your search, try enclosing your search phrase within quotation marks.

Traffic analysis is something that you must do constantly to check your websites performance. It is much better to keep your money by doing this simple job yourself instead of farming the work out. At least until you are making a decent profit.

On the first page of your websites cpanel (control panel) there is a file called ‘Awstats’,once you click through this icon you will be taken to choose which domain or sub domain you will to find the stats on. The awstas folder normally resides in the “log’ area of your control panel.

Once you have clicked through the Awstats icon you will then have a choice of which domain or sub domain you want to view the stats on. Once you have chosen your domain by clicking on the ‘View’ button you will see the fantastic statistics that are now available to you.

It is quite amazing really, there is such a detailed view of your web site statistics. You now are able to monitor the progress of your other ad or traffic campaigns to double check their accuracy. You will also be able to find more traffic analysis tools on google’s site. There are a host of free tools for you to use.

Another tool that is certainly worth a mention is the Webmasters tools on the google site. Once you implement this feature on your website, you will have some more great statistics to view. It is excellent because it gives you a feel of what is actually happening on your site.

You will slowly start to see all the results of your web building empire increase over time and with the google webmaster tools it real takes traffic analysis to a whole new level. It is also quite encouraging to look at how your website is slowly growing and you will see how many other people have links to your website.

Website Traffic Analysis - Using Your Cpanel

One of the most important things we can do with our website is to constantly monitor it. So therefore we must conduct website traffic analysis on a regular basis.

There are several ways we can achieve this, either through some software that will monitor our site,we could pay someone to monitor it for us or we could quickly check the traffic statistics ourselves. Checking it ourselves is always the better option because we may pick up on something that a third party does not.

As long as you have access to your websites cpanel (control panel), then checking your statistics is pretty straight forward. It is first a matter of logging into the first page on your cpanel, normally you would type in your domain web address and add a forward slash, / , and then put ‘cpanel’ after it. Use your user name and password you got when you set up your hosting.

Once you bring up your cpanel page, then it is just a matter of looking for the ‘Awstats’ which is normally located in the ‘Logs’ section. Once you have found Awstats, just click on it to open the folder. Now click on the ‘View’ icon and your statistics page should open up.

You should now be able to see a summary of all your traffic for the month which will include an easy to see bar diagram. If you scan down the page you will also see a breakdown of your stats on a daily basis. This method will give you pretty well all the information you need. You can easily see how your site is doing , this is an easy and quick way to do website traffic analysis yourself.

It is easy to check your traffic stats against any ppc or article campaign you are running and the detail you get is quite comprehensive. In fact, I think that you will be surprised at just how much information is supplied through your cpanel, it really is a gold mine of great information.

It will pay you to spend a bit of time getting to know some of the other features of your control panel. It will pay you to have a look at the other programs that are available in the ‘fantastico’ folder. Also, did you know that you can install a wordpress blog on your website automatically through your cpanel?

You will find lots of other programs that you can self-install as well, take a look, it may save you from buying some software that you already have for free! In the mean time have fun with your website traffic analysis.

Testing And Tracking Your Way To Success!

Have you ever heard of testing and tracking? Let me give you an insight on how successful online entrepreneurs grow sky high in the short term, not the long term!

Remember this phrase:

“Success Leaves Traces!”

Success does leave traces, but in order for success to leave a trace and especially to you, you must implement testing and tracking to your everyday appearance.

Successful Online Entrepreneurs do not become successful by guessing their strategies. They time test and prove their strategies by means of testing and tracking and by doing so, they know exactly what works and what doesn’t work.

Do you test and track? Well, if you don’t, you should and I am going to tell you how and what you can do today to start tracking and tracing absolutely FREE from Google so you can personally test and track your business growth!

Follow these steps:

1 - Open your Internet browser.
2 - Now go to http://www.google.com/analytics.
3 - Create an account.
4 - Add a new domain to test and track.
5 - Google Analytics will give you a source code to place on you main index page.
6 - Copy and Paste that code before the /body tag within your index.html content.
7 - Wait approximately 24 hours for Google Analytics to shake hands with your domain.
8 - Now Google Analytics is tracking and tracing your domain traffic.

That’s all it takes! If you are your own webmaster, you can create this account and apply the code to your index page within 15 minutes of your time. Now when you submit that article or you submit that marketing video on your product, etc., you’ll see just how much traffic has visited your site and where the visit originated from, thus knowing what is working and what isn’t working. When you see your time tested and proven strategies, continue to do what works and watch your future grow sky high!

There is so much more you can do with Google Analytics, but I wanted to give you the basics so that you can at least track and trace your traffic.

BONUS TIP - With your Google Analytics account, you can add as many Domains as you wish and track them all within that same account. Each time you add a Domain, you get a new code so just follow the steps above, over and over again for each Domain that you add to your Google Analytics Profile.

I look forward to seeing your success online!
