Why Bother with Pay Per Click Advertising?

Pay per click advertising has two sides of every opinion. Many new internet entrepreneurs simply aren’t interested in the potential expense while others swear by it and don’t bother to deeply explore other forms of advertising. There can be a middle ground and sometimes understanding exactly what pay per click advertising can offer you and your business makes it easier to determine where it stands on your list of importance.

Pay per click brings to your website what we can call pre-qualified traffic. This is traffic that is already interested in purchasing the product or service that you offer. Since they are already interested in purchasing, it only makes sense to go after this traffic with a little heart and soul.

There is a dramatic difference in speed between pay per click advertising and other forms of advertising. It takes literally just a few hours between the time you post your account and get your business straight and set up and the time you are listed up on the search engine results with the rest of the gang. This means an increase in traffic within a very short period of time. In fact, some people report an increase in sales within the first twenty four hours.

There is something to be said for being able to count on holding and maintaining a high level listing on the search results page. Once you get yourself there, the chances of staying there are pretty high. Of course, you can start to climb your way down which would mean a little tweaking, but you can still count on consistent and predictable scores.

Pay per click advertising is almost completely in the hands of the business owner. In many cases, owners report feeling as though they can alter things as they wish, save money when they have to, increase traffic at will, and of course, create a higher income immediately with just a higher bid or a new keyword. This is by far the most personal control ay of us have when it comes to exposure on the internet.

The business owner is able to set a daily budget, which helps prevent against the problem of over clicking problems. This is fairly new, as there was a time when over clicking could waste clicks and cost the business owner a lot of money for the same click. Google, in particular has made great strides in addressing this problem.

There are more tools than ever available before to help the business owner create the situation that works best for their particular circumstances. There is nothing wrong in deciding daily just how much you can afford to spend or how well things are going or aren’t going. Making adjustments and seeing an immediate effect is a huge asset to any business owner, but especially for online business owners.

Pay per click advertising puts almost everything directly into the hands of the advertiser. This is a far cry from the frustration that many advertisers find with other programs. After all, if you can’t make adjustments, grab feedback, and alter your course, then you end up without much control and a lot of poking and hoping. By using a strong advertising campaign, by writing strong and clear ads, and drawing in enough of a daily crowd, you can end up at the top of the search engine results in a fairly short period of time.

What You Absolutely Need to Know before Pay Per Clicking Your Internet Business

You’ve read about what pay per click advertising can do for your business. You understand the process and the scope of how things work. You understand that it is still a gamble toward success but one with enough controllable factors that you feel ready to take on the ever popular pay per clicking world of interpreneurialship. Before you log on and go for it, make sure you can actively achieve the checklist we have put together to help you reach your personal pinnacle of pay per clicking success.

First and foremost, understand the market, competition, and the product you are offering. Make sure you can come up with some compelling reasons why the product is so necessary, and know what other competitors are saying about it.

Thoroughly think through a realistic and believable budget. You should base your daily and monthly budget on the prospect of not making a single sale, that way you are completely covered should the worst case scenario unfold.

Choose your bid amount carefully. Remember that going to high will drain your account and dropping it too far under par will result in the third or fourth results page where you won’t receive any exposure.

Check your keyword list against your own research. Avoid keywords that are too broad, such as “dog” but avoid those that are too specific such as “purple dog rain coats for Beagles.” Go with a middle of the road tactic like, “dog clothes.”

When you write out your copy, stick to the basic rules of advertising. Give some purpose, other than your appreciation, for their decision to purchase your product. How will it absolutely enhance their life? Why do they need it? Don’t forget to motivate the potential customer with true but fabulous catch phrases like “freebies” and “money back guarantees” and no holds barred discounts, benefits, and a call to action. Sometimes you have to tell people to click on the link in order for them to continue the process.

Never take a website that looks like an amateur high school project into the pay per click world. Make sure that you have the most professional website possible and that you have personally either hired someone to check for grammatical and spelling errors or have done so yourself. There is nothing quite like reading a web page filled with mistakes and typos to turn away a potential client.

The final bit of information as you head off to pay per click your business toward success is to remain flexible. If something isn’t working, change it. Don’t wait and see for too long since it only takes a few days behind the eight ball to wipe you out. Keep on top of your results, track the information, and adjust along the way.

Pay Per Clicking Your Way to Success

Pay per click, cost per click, pay per placement, pay per ranking, and pay per performance all pretty much means that you are hedging against the search engine competition the you can offer enough per bid to draw a crowd to your web pages based totally on keywords. It is really an interesting concept. You are hedging your bets against two basic elements of internet advertising. The first element is that you can bid high enough to be competitive and keep your results on the first page. The second element is that you can pick keywords that are used often enough to draw significant traffic while not popular enough to drive you off the first results page so that you might keep your bid down.

When people refer to keyword auctioning, they are referring to the pay per click process. Out of all the terms which apply to the process, keyword auctioning is the most accurate term, because that is exactly what it is. You are auctioning for your position and for your keywords. Every time users land on your website from the results page you now owe the search engine for the click through, which could be on average about $1.00. Your profit margin helps to determine how effective this process of auctioning for a keyword position might be for you. If your product costs the consumer about $500, then you only need one in every 500 visitors to make a purchase in order for you to break even. If it only costs 20, then you need one in every 20 to make a purchase. Of course, you don’t have to bid $1.00. You can bid higher or lower, but going by average bids, you know that the math winds up being pretty simple to make sure that you are profiting per visitor. If you’re not, then adjustments need to be made rather quickly.

Getting onto the results page isn’t really all that difficult provided that you have some funds to deposit and you are willing to gather yourself an education as you proceed. You start by opening up an account, which in turn means that you also deposit funds. You then create the keyword list and bid on these keywords. Hopefully you haven’t picked the most popular ones but have picked those that are popular enough to draw in a steady stream of traffic. The most popular ones go for a higher bid automatically. You enter your advertisement copy and focus on your keywords along with your selling points. Hopefully, you’ve decided to make it as interesting as possible so that people want to come and check out what you have to offer. Boring text generally gets skipped over unless you carry something very rare and unique. Once you have your landing pages set up and ready for action, you simply enter the appropriate information when prompted and your advertisement goes directly into the search engine for users to find. When they do, should they click your link, you are them charged the amount that you had previously bid.

There are some variations on the process, and you get to shuffle your concepts around a little, but once you have developed things this far, then you are truly just sitting back and watching the results. If your website starts getting a noticeable increase in traffic, then you know for sure that you have ultimately hit on a strong keyword, wrote some pretty good text, and made a reasonable bid. If your website starts receiving more traffic than it can handle then you know you picked incredibly perfect keywords, hit the bid right on the money, and wrote some fabulous text, or any one of those factors.

From there you can use the tracking system to discover who comes to your site, whether they stay for just a few moments or of they hang there surfing around from awhile, and whether you profited from their visit. This helps you determine how to increase your sales as well as your traffic as you continue the process. Pay per click advertising is by far one of the most productive uses of your advertising budget. Just make sure you are well informed about the ins and outs before charging off to sign up. Amateurs without any real concept of what they are doing have been known to be financially wiped out in a short period of time and haven’t made one single web sale. Self education is the key to pay per clicking your way to the top of the success ladder.

Does The Popularity Of Pay Per Click Marketing Mean It Is Valuable?

It isn’t all that uncommon for a great amount of hype to build up around a service or web based idea that makes it appear to be much bigger and much more valuable than it actually is. In some cases, pay per click marketing seems to be a genuinely awesome deal with little to get hung up on and much to get excited about. Looking into it further might mean that there are hang ups, issues, and problems that aren’t well known due to its popularity.

Overall, even after thorough searching, pay per click advertising seems to be a fairly strong method of internet advertising. While you can’t ever bank on just one single method of drawing traffic to your site, pay per click marketing seems to be among the highest quality avenues available to date.

The introduction of pay per click advertising help to eliminate or at least to reduce the ever annoying pop up ad and even helped in the reduction of spam. Users also benefited by being able to find specific sites based solely on their choice of keywords. It cut through the hassles associated with previously heralded method of advertising for inter-preneurs and of course created a whole new avenue of producing fast results in a short period of time. There are plenty of advantages and disadvantages associated with pay per click advertising, but there has yet to be a better system put in place to grab directed, qualified traffic from the search engine directly to the site involved.

The greatest issue that inter-preneurs encounter when using pay per click marketing is their lack of experience and education can create a systematic execution of errors which end up being very costly and not beneficial to the site’s progress and success. Without the proper base of education, first timers often experience a great amount of frustration and even a certain amount of financial backlash from trying to entertain the pay per click advertising strategy without the benefit of a gain at the end of the month. There are plenty of people who give it only a month to recoup the initial costs. Without the profitable gain, many would be inter-preneurs end up cancelling their campaign in order to preserve what is left of their financial resources.

Keyword research, perpetual monitoring, and the ability to make continuous adjustments are key factors in creating a positive pay per click experience. These simple factors help just about any inter-preneur determine his or her own level of success by either coming up with better keywords or by increasing their bid amount. This flexibility can lead to a strong and ambitious but successful pay per click marketing campaign.

The pay per click phenomenon has birthed a new kind of professional that can ultimately help with dealing with the finer points of internet marketing for a reasonable cost. There are now professional services available to help launch the pay per click scenario into action for just about any small business or home business. If your desire is to see the results of a professional pay per click situation without having to go through the trial and error of learning the ropes yourself, this might be a reasonable solution for you. At the end of the campaign, the inter-preneur is then taught the necessary skills to ensure that the company or business can handle increased and achievable success.

Just like any other business opportunity out there, one has to be wary of promises that are too good to be true or of ruthless and unscrupulous characters claiming to be able to perform when they can’t. There is a small risk involved when it comes time to pay up and deliver results. However, if you perform your share of homework and research any given company claiming to produce better traffic results for you, you should be able to find a reputable individual or team that can help you with the overloading competition out there. This is just one more opportunity to break into the pay per click world with great success.

Developing Strong Cash Flow with Pay Per Click Management

Many new internet marketers view pay per click programs as either the answer to their marketing needs or something to be avoided like viruses. There seems to be a rather dramatic split between the idea of using the pay per click campaigns in order to drive increased traffic to your website.

Research has proven that those who are not in favor of pay per click programs are not entirely sure that they have an absolutely winning product or service while those that are in complete favor of pay per click programs have all the faith in the world that their product or service will bring a fortune their way with enough traffic. Pay per click can get expensive, even from the very beginning. You can control expenses, but there are plenty of businesses that are run from the comfort of a home office that are shelling out $4,000 daily in order to bring in $5,000 per day. This means that these websites are seeing a profit margin of $1,000 per day.

Pay per click is another keyword sensitive program that enables users to choose your website based on the results of their search engine page. When the user types in the keywords, those who have the higher bids show up first and those with the lower bids show up later. That means that if you and three thousand people are competing for the keyword “mustard seed” those who bid the highest are in the first page of the search engine results while those who bid less are usually not seen at all. You can control the costs a little bit more by bidding for less popular keywords but bidding higher amounts for the less popular keywords.

Since there are numerous keywords that match almost any website, you can choose which keywords you want to place a bid on and help manage your costs that way. As your business grows, you can then reverse it and start bidding more money on the more popular keywords. With the growth of your business, you will notice that your advertising budget increases. Pay per click services are the one place that the extra money would be put to the most good.

When choosing your keywords and trying to manage costs, you have to play a very selective game of determining appropriate and accurate keywords that are less popular. If you stray too far from the actual content that your site offers, visitors are going to click, you are going to get charged, and then the visitor is going to leave rather quickly considering that they were not able to find the appropriate related material on your site. This would be wasteful advertising.

Choosing your search engine wisely is also another method of managing expenses while still maximizing your exposure on the internet. Some of the smaller search engines offer the more popular keywords for less than the more popular search engines. That means that you have the opportunity to make sure you end up on the top search results page without having to pay as much. The drawback is there are fewer users using those search engines and this means that you are still going to experience lower results. Managing your pay per click campaign is an exercise in developing strong keywords, researching costs and the productivity of possible search engines, and developing a plan for the available keywords that are most accurately able to represent your website while simultaneously pulling in as many users as possible.

As you develop your pay per click campaign, make sure you understand exactly how much you are putting into your campaign. Remember that going as high as $1 per click might not seem like much, but since you just went for the top position you will gain higher visibility. That means that you may end up owing a small fortune to the search engine but you also are more than likely experiencing a greater level of success. Pay per click campaigns are generally quite successful when they are well researched and well thought out.

Fortunately you can make a number of changes as things go along so that you are fine tuning your pay per click program to optimize the results. It wouldn’t make sense to watch users click (and spend your money) only to watch every last one of them leave your site without ever making a single purchase. You need people to stay and review your content as well as be willing or compelled to produce a credit card or Paypal address for you to reap the benefits of pay per click campaigns.

Realistic Expectations of Pay Per Click Advertising

The pay per click advertising industry has taken off. Now you can enter in your bid, maintain your budget, and of course, watch your results in a real time basis. However, your competitors can cost you money by simply clicking on you and it can be very difficult to maintain a campaign like this for an indefinite amount of time. Every month you have to come up with the relevant cash in order to keep your position. Without this, you aren’t going to have any results.

The use of strong keywords and a good bid can really enhance your immediate business profits. Of course, your learning curve may very well get pretty expensive if you are using inaccurate keywords or if you end up making larger errors in judgment. Along the way you may find that you can handle the constant changing and shuffling and minor experimentation. Some people find it very stressful and expensive and thus they run a campaign to build up loyal business or to get a business started and then let the campaign go for awhile.

Pay per click has produced a very competitive arena for those wishing to take advantage of the services that they offer. Of course, this situation looks great for the pay per click business. Advertisers are willing to risk more and more in order to break away from the pack. For those who are just now getting into pay per click, this can be really intimidating and they might even find that they are too intimidated to make strong bids. It is imperative that the bids are high enough to be on the first page in order to get the necessary exposure. Bids that are too low are going to end up on the second or third results pages.

There are no guarantees in the land of internet marketing. There are always variables that play into your chances of success at any given moment. Of course, there are always just as many variables that are playing directly into your success. If you are able and willing to embrace the possibilities of creating success while dancing with failure, pay per click works well. For those who need something more concrete, pay per click is frightening place to advertise.

Pay per click, cost per click, pay per placement, pay per ranking, and pay per performance all pretty much means that you are hedging against the search engine competition the you can offer enough per bid to draw a crowd to your web pages based totally on keywords. It is really an interesting concept.

5 Alternatives to Google AdWords

Google AdWords is a great way to drive targeted traffic to your real estate website, but as time goes on it becomes less and less effective. Why? Simple: saturation and expense. The good news is that there are alternatives, and they won’t take you long to find:

1. Local Online Newspapers
After 30 seconds, I discovered these examples: Edmonton Journal, Calgary Herald, Vancouver Sun, Chicago Sun Times, etc.

Sure, it’s not the sexy new-age media that’s all the rage right now, but it still works (and makes a lot of people a lot of money). Make sure your banner ad appears in the real estate section, is vibrant and eye catching. As always, make sure to give readers a compelling reason to use your services over those of your competitors - consider including a flash animation of your Google Maps-based MLS search.

2. Facebook
Facebook is still relatively new to the online advertising world, but with the right approach it can be very effective.

The only consideration with Facebook is that click-through rates can decline very rapidly so it’s vital that your advertisements are constantly fresh and new. Make sure to re-tune the text every week, or two.

3. Other Search Engines
Here’s a list of the web’s search engine market share: Bing, Yahoo, Ask, etc.

So, “why should anyone use a search engine with such little market share?” The answer is: because other people don’t. Every day, billions of searches are performed. Search engines with 1% market share are still worth more than $1 billion, and are sometimes far more competitively priced than Google.

Save yourself some dollars and experiment with these lesser used options.

4. AdBrite
Check out their website. They have tens of thousands of partner sites with relevant content ready for you to take advantage of. They are generally much cheaper than Google AdWords, but be CAREFUL. They are cheaper because the click-throughs are generally of lower quality than those you’ll get from Google.

To improve click-through quality, be sure to target your ads correctly. If your ads are too general, you will drive poorly targeted traffic to your website, defeating the purpose.

5. Clicksor
Similar to AdBrite and AdSense, Clicksor displays your ads on relevant sites in their vast advertising network. The ads are contextual, meaning that you can target your ads to be displayed in articles that are relevant to your website.

There are lots of alternatives to Google Adwords out there. Despite the fact that most require a little tweaking to get them working for you, these alternatives offer a great way to target advertising in ways that many of your competitors aren’t even aware of.

You Know What Really Grinds My Gears? Pay-Per-Click!

You know what really grinds my gears? Perhaps you have heard that question before and if you have I know what you’re saying. That cartoon sitcom that is repulsive, unappealing with a horrible sense of humor called Family Guy. Actually, who am I kidding? I’m a big fan of that show as the writer is a genius and there’s nothing better than random acts of laughs. My title is a total spoof from that show. And you know, maybe this will be my new article series. There! Stamped and done! Welcome to my “articletoon”.

So do you REALLY want to know what grinds my gears? Pay-Per-Click! There is definitely a love/hate relationship with PPC. More hate than love. PPC is a program you do not want to get involved with if one, you can’t afford to spend the money, and two, you are unsure if you will make any back.. You’ve really got to have a full proof product that people will absolutely buy if they click on your link. Hell, maybe you should let them know right in the title how much is costs. Then at least you know that they know it costs money. And who in the right mind would click on it knowing the cost already (that is if they weren’t really interested).

You would expect that people really interested in purchasing your product would click on your ad already knowing how much it’s going to cost. I know it’s a crazy idea, but maybe you’ll actually be getting your money’s worth out of your clicks. Perhaps you will have a much higher conversion rate as well. That’s what it’s all about, converting as many visits as possible into sales.

Another big problem with PPC is that it seems like everybody in their right mind is doing it. I’ve never seen so much competition since that one time I went to that party and saw this amazing girl that all the guys…well…I’ve never seen so much competition. And the sad part is most of the people out there are selling the exact same products. So unless you have some state of the art dingle hopper that makes your car run off of rain (sorry to you desert dwellers), then PPC really does come down to luck. And when I’m spending money on advertising or PPC (which I never do by the way), I don’t want to rely on luck.

The only thing I do like about PPC is if you have the money, you can make a lot in return. That’s it. So if you have the money to spend/lose, then go ahead and try it out. Everybody else, I advise you stay away and leave PPC to the people that can afford to lose.

It’s a much smarter idea to use as many of the free resources as you can. Write articles; respond to blogs, forums, and even some free traffic generators to start some type of noise with your site. Work on your site SEO as much as possible to work your way up search engine rankings. And last, creating a good back link program as that will help you with increasing your search engine rankings as well. Do as much of the leg work as you can as much as possible. I’m telling you this. Especially when you’re starting out, it’s is not easy. It is a lot or work, writing, submitting and more. But it will really pay off in the long run and then maybe your website will start getting the traffic that it deserves.

When starting a web business, do not rely on it taking over your income right away. Personally, I would keep your day job and work on your site two hours per day. In about a years time you will be very happy that you stuck with it and dividends will start to pay off.

So there you have it. That’s what really grinds my gears about PPC. Stay tuned for next time when the amazing gear grinding expert unleashes on another internet marketing method that has pit falls (and maybe some high points as well). But until next time!

Is Google Making Room For Something?

Users of Google will have noticed recently a subtle change in the way the search results are laid out.

More specifically Google appears to be trialling a new layout for the search results which narrows the left hand column containing the natural search results bringing the right hand set of paid search results closer.

Users of the Search Engine Watch forum suggest this is being done to test the impact on click through rate on the paid results and whilst I would suggest this may be the objective of the current trials, the bigger questions for me, is what is Google planning to do with the space it creates on its search engine results pages?

It seems to me that the move could also be paving the way for Google to integrate more elements within their search engine result pages and they are using the current test to see what impact this may have on paid search (Pay Per Click) revenues.

So, what could Google be planning? Here are some potential suggestions of what they could do with the space: universal search, more pay per click results, image based advertising, Bing integration.

Suggestion 1: Universal search

A hot topic for a while now, and Google and the other search engines have been slowly introducing maps, images and video into their results in an attempt to make them as useful as possible. For the large part though these have been intermingled with the search engine optimisation results in the main area of the page, could Google be looking to use a new layout utilising this additional space?

Suggestion 2: More pay per click results anyone?

Highly unlikely as it would make the page too ad heavy, but Google could introduce another column of pay per click results in the new space, potentially splitting out the national and local results. After all, these results are what earn Google its money.

Suggestion 3: Image based advertising

The Google homepage is hot property in terms of eyes, impressions, and user intent. Maybe they are planning to bolster their placement network with some keyword based display advertising on the search engine result pages? They could certainly attract a few advertisers if they sold it at keyword level on a cost per click basis.

Suggestion 4: Bing integration

Maybe Google is planning to follow Yahoo in giving up on the search game. Sell out to Microsoft for a small percentage share of revenue and concentrate on other areas… OK maybe not!

Internet Marketing Resource-Why Pay Per Click Campaigns are Successful

Have you been wondering whether you should take the leap and start a pay per click (PPC) campaign? We see internet marketers struggling with this decision every day, and it’s usually due to a lack of knowledge about the concept. All you need is a little information to understand why this internet marketing resource is so important and could bring in lots of sales for you.

The Fast Track to Sales
When you utilize PPC campaigns, it allows you the opportunity to get your advertisement on the search engine front page (if you play your cards right). All you have to do is choose a strong keyword, figure out the cost per click, and write up a call to action advertisement. It’s not as easy as it sounds, but with the proper help it can be.

Pay per click ads out all kinds of work (like writing and submitting dozens of articles) and helps you make money faster. Pay per click campaigns cut a lot of time out of the waiting process that takes place with other marketing strategies like article marketing or social bookmarking. In short, the whole idea behind pay per click campaigns is to help you make money faster.

The Cost
One of the biggest blocks people have against using pay per click campaigns is money. Whether or not you fall into this category, it’s important to understand you don’t have to spend a lot of money with this internet marketing resource. All you have to do is find the right keywords that cost the least amount of money and then go from there. You’ll want a good keyword that will show up on the first page, and possibly in the top 3 spots. But you also want to keep your costs low, so you might want to settle for a lower spot on the page.

If you’re worried about getting hit with a ridiculous financial burden, we suggest setting up a budget. Even if you only want to spend $10 a month, you can do so. Each time someone clicks on your link, it will record the cost until you reach your budget limit. When it’s reached, your ad will fall out of the rotation until you credit your account with more money.

At this point you should check your click rates and sales to see if your campaign has made you any money. If you have positive earnings after subtracting your pay per click costs, then you’ve found yourself a winning ad campaign and you should invest more money in it. Remember that it takes money to make money, even in the online marketing world.

In the end, it’s a perfect internet marketing resource for anyone who wants to make money quickly, as long as you carefully select your keywords and watch your budget. So if you’re thinking about trying out pay per clicks, do a bit of research on your keyword, set your budget, and go for it. It could be a great marketing move on your part.
